Exhibition Highlights
A “Star Map” of Asian Social Design
The exhibition brings together social design projects from numerous Asian countries and regions. Under the curatorial theme of “Konstellation,” it moves beyond the conventional “center–periphery” model of exhibition-making, creating a space where design practices from different cultural contexts can engage in dialogue on equal terms and collectively reveal the evolving landscape of social design in Asia.
Responding to Real-World Social Issues
From climate change and circular regeneration to community renewal and rural-urban coexistence, and from cultural heritage to health equity, the exhibition addresses a broad range of pressing social issues. Through real-world projects and practices, it demonstrates how design can become an important force for responding to the challenges of our time.
Local Perspectives, Global Exploration
Alongside outstanding practices from across Asia, the exhibition features a special section titled “Chengdu Lens.” Taking local practices—including Chengdu’s artist villages—as points of observation, the section explores how global ideas of social design continue to take root, evolve, and generate new possibilities within local contexts.

Exhibition Sections
Section I
Ecological Resilience & Circular Regeneration Hub
Exhibition view of “Constellation Resonance: 2026 Asian Social Design Exhibition”
As design begins to respond to the climate crisis, how might we rethink what we mean by “resources”?
This section presents a series of social design practices focusing on the circular economy, material innovation, ecological restoration, and sustainable agriculture. From biodegradable devices designed to restore seagrass ecosystems, and tableware made by compressing food waste that can eventually return to the soil, to products made from recycled ocean plastics and environmentally friendly packaging produced from wetland plants, these projects demonstrate how design can move beyond simply “reducing consumption” toward circular regeneration, opening up new possibilities for a more sustainable relationship between people and nature.
Section II
Community Integration & Urban-Rural Coexistence Hub

Design does more than shaping spaces—it can also reconnect people. This section focuses on community building, urban and rural renewal, public space, and rural revitalization. Featured projects include the renewal of public spaces beneath elevated highways in Singapore, community-participatory architecture in Bali, a circular economy initiative in a Malaysian coastal community, and cultural regeneration projects in rural China.Through diverse approaches, these practices rebuild community relationships and stimulate local vitality, demonstrating how design can become an important medium for connecting people with their communities.
Section III
Cultural Translation & Local Regeneration Hub
