Red Dot Design Museum Xiamen is the third Red Dot Design Museum in the world and the only one in China, introducing more than 10 international design exhibitions, design courses and design projects every year, displaying more than 1,000 award-winning designs of the four Red Dot from 70 countries and regions around the world, and providing more than 300 award-winning design works in various functional areas for experience, which is the best entry point to learn about the global design trends and experience the charm of design up close. Through high-quality international design exhibitions, forward-looking design trends and exploratory discussions, as well as public education programs, the Red Dot Design Museum Xiamen hopes to present the top level of design in various fields and the innovative thinking of designers and design teams at multiple levels; provide professional support and a platform for cooperation in design creation and practice; and expand the outreach of design, so as to allow design to benignly intervene in the society, enhance the public's awareness of and participation in design and promote the upgrading of cities and industries; and ultimately, expand the reach of design to enhance the awareness of and participation in design. It will also promote the upgrading of cities and industries, and ultimately create a city brand of "Design Capital" to promote the development of world-class cultural and technological industries.

Red Dot Design Award, founded in Germany in 1954, looks back at a tradition spanning more than 60 years. Every year, Red Dot receives more than 17,000 submissions from 70 countries. It is one of the most influential design awards in the world. In 1955, the exhibition “Ständige Schau formschöner Industrieerzeugnisse” opened in Essen, which was the initial form of Red Dot Design Museum. The world's first Red Dot Design Museum was located in the Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex in Essen, Germany. The exhibition space was designed and remodeled by the Pritzker Architecture Prize winner Lord Norman Forster (a well-renowned architectural designer known for Apple's headquarters building) on the basis of the abandoned boiler house. In 2005, the second Red Dot Design Museum was established in Singapore. In 2017, the Singapore Red Dot Design Museum moved to its present location along the Marina Bay after a 12-year period since it was first established in 2005 along Maxwell Road. It is also the physical embodiment of Red Dot Awards.

Design Landmark

In 2018, the Red Dot Design Museum Xiamen, operated by Xiamen Culture Media Group, will also become a hub between international design and Chinese design. The museum presents the top level of design and innovative thinking in various fields, including the regular exhibition: The Form of Success, curated by Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, the founder and CEO of Red Dot, which features 600 brands from around the world, and the first authorized exhibition by Apple. Each year, there will be 10 special thematic exhibitions, leading visitors into the diverse world of design. In addition, the museum houses the world's first Red Dot Design Space, a second work space for creative workers, and the world's first Red Dot Design School.
