Stefan Eckstein is the founder and CEO of ECKSTEIN DESIGN in Munich. The studio focuses on industrial, interaction and corporate industrial design. Stefan Eckstein studied industrial design at the Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Kiel and ergonomics at the Anthropological Institute of the University of Kiel, Germany. Together with his design team, he has received many design awards in national and international competitions. Today, Stefan Eckstein is recognised as a renowned designer for industrial design.
In line with his principle, “reduction to the essential leads to a better result”, he has developed a user-driven approach to innovation, called “Agile Design Development”. It combines innovative concept- and development methods in a structured thought process. Stefan Eckstein has been a member of numerous international juries as well as of the Association of German Industrial Designers (VDID) for 25 years and was elected president in 2012. Under his management, the VDID CODEX was developed. Today, it serves as a model for the ethical values of the profession of industrial designers.
