Can discarded coffee grounds become an elegant dining table? Can abandoned fishing nets and oyster shells be “transformed” into 3D-printed chairs and sports shoes? When old skateboards are “reborn” as trendy toys and orange peels “bloom” into tea bowls, ordinary waste can also undergo a poetic transformation!
On April 19, 2025, the "Weaving the Future : 2025 Sustainable Design Exhibition" will open at the Tianfu Industrial Design Park. Here, you can touch the warmth of the future and step into the dome interwoven with bamboo weaving and light and shadow. On the giant carpet woven from recycled plastic, you can feel the impact of sustainable design!

Ancient Chinese philosophers, through Laozi's Tao Te Ching, articulated the wisdom: "Humans follow Earth, Earth follows Heaven, Heaven follows Tao, Tao follows Nature" .In ancient China, our ancestors had already revealed with their simple philosophy that true sustainability requires the acknowledgment of the limitations of human capabilities.
Today, sustainable design transcends technological innovation — it is a moral imperative of our time. We can only achieve genuine, enduring progress by positioning humanity as an integral part of nature's metabolic system..

This exhibition gathers many innovative projects and case studies from 17 countries and regions, structured around five provocative themes. From the five sections of" Is Sustainable Living a Middle-Class Privilege or a Civic Imperative"、"Waste or Untapped Resource" 、"Can Technology Undergo ’Photosynthesis’”、"Will We Build Parks on Space Debris Constellations in the Next Decade" and "What Can a Collective ‘Web’of Sustained Action Transform"?Spanning material innovation, environmental conservation, ethical technology, cultural reinvention, rural revitalization, and urban regeneration, it presents a collective display.
This is not an exhibition of predefined answers but rather an act of "interrogative weaving" around sustainability. Designers evolve from "problem solvers" to "system weavers", translating innovative cases into seeds of societal reflection while braiding new threads for future sustainable living.

In 2025, the DE-Social Design Action responds to global sustainability challenges through Weaving the Future: 2025 Sustainable Design Exhibition. "Weaving" is a metaphor for transdisciplinary collaboration and a collective aspiration. The "future" is not a solution but manifested through 69 catalytic inquiries. We invite every visitor to gather these threads of questioning, reweaving the symbiotic relationships between humanity and nature, individuals and society, through the interstices of uncertainty.
