Dr. Joseph Francis Wong

Dr. Joseph Francis Wong joined the Hong Kong Design Institute as the Vice Principal in 2017. Prior to this, he was Associate Professor at the City University of Hong Kong, where he taught architectural design and theory for 19 years.

Joseph Francis Wong received a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Berkeley, a Master of Architecture from MIT and a Doctor of Education from Leicester. He is a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, where he was part of the Board of Internal Affairs and the Board of Educational Affairs and chaired the Environment and Sustainable Design Committee. His research on open building and spatial / visual field analysis has been presented and published in many conferences and journals, including Design Studies, Habitat International, Journal of Architecture as well as Environment and Planning B. In recognition of his contribution to design education, Joseph Francis Wong was awarded the Berkeley Prize International Fellowship in 2014.
