Tom Schönherr

Tom Schönherr, born in 1954, graduated from the Staatlichen Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart in 1982. He subsequently worked as a designer for Frogdesign in Altensteig and Cupertino, USA, from 1982 to 1987, working among others for Apple, Sony, Märklin and Hansgrohe. Since 1987, Schönherr has been Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Phoenix Design in Stuttgart, Munich and Shanghai. He also managed the design budgets of international brands such as Duravit, Hansgrohe, Gira, Loewe, Miele, Sharp, Trump and Zeiss. 

For his outstanding work, he received the Lucky Strike Award in the category “Personality” in 1998 and the German Design Award in the category “Personality” in 2012. In 2018, he was awarded the Red Dot: Design Team of the Year for Phoenix Design.  

Tom’s personal focus is on the design and development of complex brand ranges, as well as strategic brand and design consulting and strategy development. He contributes his extensive experience in technical production and construction processes to his national and international jury work and shares his knowledge through workshops, lectures and professional articles.
